My grandfather sold Electrolux vacuum cleaners in the 30s. Does that count? With Oddballs still plagued with problems and Frisco modelers still waiting to have their pre-paid orders filled it appears that reliable decal manufacturers are needed or just let the finished model run on the layout without any lettering. I switched cement hoppers on the ATSF in Dallas and there was nothing readable anywhere on the car! Joe Toth
I knew it was in your heritage. It just seems natural, salesmanship is a art, you have the gift. Bill Jackson
I worked part time during high school on the weekends and through summer vacation for Chester Holley in his train shop in Tampa, Florida, from 1962-1964 and again during my annual October vacations in the 1980s and 90s. We always got a kick (and sales) from customers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who couldn't speak very much English. They would spit and sputter trying to make known what they were looking for and then I would haul off with my heavy Texas accented German. Best single item sale was a Lionel large scale steam locomotive on one sunny Saturday afternoon with a $400.00 price tag. Funny, everybody wanted trains. Never sold a vacuum cleaner...LOL Joe Toth
