From Richard Crabtree on the Frisco Rails Across Missouri Facebook group:
Gentleman would your wives drive an hour or two pick you up? Many of you that have worked on the railroad know the twelve hour rule. The crew of a locomotive had to be changed to remain fresh and alert ~ Safety First! So that would mean you could be stranded 1-2 hours away from home ~ such was the cases of crews hitting Thayer, Missouri, Monett, Missouri, Lebanon, Missouri, etc.... So when this happened to Biggie, his wife Sylivia would hop in their car and drive to one of these towns to pick him up. Today we have Railroad Shuttle services that will get you home.
O.N. "Biggie" Morton Frisco Engineer ~ Biggie started with the Frisco around 1904/5 in North Shops in
Springfield, Missouri as carpenter. He moved over to building trucks - (frames & wheels for passenger and box cars). By 1910 he was a fireman and around 1915 he became and engineer for the Frisco. He and his wife Sylivia lived on 1111 E Commercial Street in Springfield, Missouri and was active as an engineer till the late 1940's.
