George - I agree with you - my impression is that the Mary Alice Beemer books they have are from her original printings that went to the society after Mrs Beemer passed away. I talked with them when I bought the poetry book, and they said they do not have many copies, but they did have all of the ones she did on Newburg (four books).

I remember my wife and I visiting her, Sept 1988, at her home when she gave me my copy of "The Iron Sounds of Summer". She had many copies of each book in big boxes in a closet at her home. I remember that trip well - after visiting Mary Alice, we drove out to Alhambra Grotto, where Caroline's parents had vacationed for a week during WW2. We climbed into the ruins, and both got a mess of chiggers. My wife has yet to forgive me!

PS - I just looked at the books, and had forgotten that Mary Alice autographed each one for me. "To Ken, who loves the Frisco, Best wishes, Mary Alice Beemer" Neat! She was a nice lady, and a talented author. As you no doubt know, she and her husband ran the Johnson Funeral Parlor in Newburg, which was located right next to her house.
