As promised after the first run sold out almost immediately, Tangent has released a second run of their beautiful General American 6000 Gal. 3 Comp. Tank Car. For those of you not familiar with this particular car, it was very small in comparison to other tank cars of that era (1930's+) and was designed to be able to transport 3 different types of fluids at the same time such as kerosene, paint solvents, etc. I can attest that these cars may reach the ultimate in detail in HO scale and are very distinctive in a consist with other cars.

This run, besides the stock GATX 1941+,1958+,and 1968+, features an HHCX Champlin original white version (refinery in Enid, OK) and an MPCX (Magnolia Petroleum Company) in the 1935 paint scheme. Both of these cars are silver and quite striking. Each car is available in 3 road numbers and the MSRP is $44.95. Tangent runs their business very differently than other manufacturers as they introduce new models only when they are ready to ship. They have a very limited dealer network and their discount to them is minimal so some offer their products at a small discount. Two dealers that I am aware of are Spring Creek Model Trains in Deshler, NE. and Doc's Caboose in Kansas City, MO. Bottom line, Tangent sells a large portion of their models direct and they do offer a small quantity discount.

One big word of caution is that some of these offerings, as in the first run, will probably sell out almost immediately (within a week or two). Bottom line, this is an almost must have for any Frisco modeler, especially those who model Oklahoma. Below is the link to the models offered.

Bob, thanks for the heads up. I missed out on the original order of these tank cars and am glad to say I just bought three. With their three domes and small size they certainly do represent a car that is unique. I tried to join their newsletter, but I got an error message, so I guess I will wait to see if anyone has the same experience or knows how to sign up.

    Terry:

You're more than welcome. Head's up and fair warning to the rest of you that might want some to order them now! Some will be gone. Also this begs another question that I would like to pose to the group. How many of you missed out on the Red Caboose Frisco Fuel Cars or if you got some would like more? Also possibly one or more with a different dome color?

SLSF Single Dome tanks with yellow domes in new numbers would be nice. SLSF Single Dome tanks in another color, say Blue (waste oil) would be nice.
