    |-|Frisco took delivery of 2 new SD70's today, They performed very well. These are Genesis "Spartan" SD 70's and are the latest additions to the Grand Junction Frisco roster. :D:D Going along with my position that the Frisco need not have ever been consumed by any other carrier.
Been making trees and doing a little scenery too. The bridge is scratchbuilt and goes from tangent into a 52" radius curve.
My Friend Brian Morris took 30-45 minutes of video during our op session today. I hope to learn now how to upload the video so it can be viewed by those interested.|-|
    Regards
    Tom H.

PS If anyone could help a simpleton "like me" to understand how to upload video, please help.

This is really neat! I really like your creativity and your modeling skills. The scene they are on is as nicely done as the models. Keep it coming!

Tom, I echo Ken and Bob's sentiments - excellent modelling. I especially like the coonskin on the nose of the engines.

Great job, Tom. That's an interesting addition to your locomotive roster. Thumbs up on the bridge as well.

A smart person in the group told me once when I bought a Lionel HO scale GP18 in Frisco markings to go ahead and run it as long as it said Frisco. You have taken the step in right direction in making the units perfect! Run the dickens out of them and well done.

    Nicely done, Tom!

Some time back, I took a picture from the RR Paintshop site (an SD70M), and "painted" it with a scheme derived from the E-units' "racehorse" scheme. WIsh I could find it & post it here..........

    Re: new power for QA&P

Finished these two today, This is using the decals from "Frisco Decals" that Ken Wulfert was good enough to send me, I like the color, think they worked good, The lettering is the right size for me but seems just a bit thick, but so am I.
Used Athearn GP60 shells that where in a drawer for 5-6 years and RPP (minor machining to fit) frames. used GP 60M handrails for the pilots and GP 50 handrails for the rest, basically built these out of the parts drawers.
Richmond Controls lighting kits to light the ditch, head lights and beacons. Added 7 oz. of lead to each model.
    Thanks

Tom - Your stuff is great! QA&P GP60's - love it!

Glad to see Louis' "GP7" decals worked so well. I haven't tried one yet. The yellow is indeed more opaque than the Oddballs GP7 set.

Like we discussed, these stripes will have application all over the place in the b/y Frisco world.

    Thanks Ken
I think these are my new favorite b/y decals. They are thin but surprisingly strong and easy to work with.
    Thanks

Tom, once again, I am overwhelmed by the beauty of your models. I can tell that you take great pride in your work and have obviously been doing this for some time. Maybe in another thread, we might convince you to share with the rest of us the tools you use and some of your techniques that might help move some of us in the right direction toward developing some of your skills.

I'm not only impressed with the quality, and innovation, of Tom's models, but with how fast Tom works. If GM could have put out the quality and quantity Tom does, at the speed Tom does, they wouldn't have needed so much of our precious taxpayer money to stay in business!

Thanks Keith and Ken, you guys are great
There are a bunch of folks including yourselves on this site, that know as much and more than I do. But I do thank you for the kind words and encouraging comments. Oh how I do enjoy building these little engines.
One of the things I want to stay away from is the appearance of a pompous jerk on my part. I learn from every single person on this site. Like it seems when I think those F units might be done I notice from some photos Ken has posted that I forgot to do that:(. Never thought I would ever have a DCC steam locomotive, much less a double header on my RR till Keith installed a decoder in a 2-8-0 for me, (and they rock).
I think some modeling skills come from messing something up and figuring out how to cover it up, hide it, or fix it.:)
Sometimes I find building 2 or 3 units is almost as quick as building 1. The most Built at one time by myself was 5 BN C30-7's (yea, I still wondering why too).
Having built 200+ locomotives since the mid to late 1970's. I would enjoy being a part of a thread on modeling/building diesel locomotives. I would like to learn from the other model builders, the parts used and techniques employed by all. Now that would be cool.
    Thank you!
