Hi, I'm down in Rogers Arkansas. Dad worked for the Frisco for 47 years! My mom was born in Mt. Vernon, Mo. and I saw your post of the Frisco Caboose up there. Could you please tell me where to find that caboose and, if you know, who owns it? I am building an orthodontic office up in Bentonville, Arkansas and it will have a train theme. There is a spot in the back yard for a caboose and I am beginning to look for a Frisco car that could possibly occupy that spot! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dr. Bill Mahon (Dad: Bruce F. Mahon, Jr)
Welcome, great to have you. There are a lot of very helpful folks, and a great deal of knowledge on all things Frisco here.
Welcome aboard ! The caboose at Mount Vernon is located at the town visitors center, on the main road through town, cant miss it. The Chamber of Commerce owns the caboose and they do not want to sell it, earlier this spring they talked about selling it and I offered them 25k for it, but then they decided to keep it. They actually keep it looking pretty good. I have Frisco caboose 1232, identical to the caboose at Mt. Vernon , that I would be willing to sell. It is complete and structurally is in nice condition, interior looks good too. The caboose can be sanded and painted to look very nice once again. I was going to restore 1232, but since then I have acquired 1288 and 1291, and those are plenty enough work for me. If your interested let me know and I will give you my phone number. There is a thread on this site called SL-SF caboose 1232. There is info and pics on the thread
Welcome to the group, Bill. I can say with completely certainty that I would have enjoyed my monthly orthodontic appointments if Dr. Noffel had a railroad or Frisco-themed office. Be sure to share any photos of the office once it's all slicked up. Best Regards,
Bill - Welcome to frisco.org! This is a very good group. If you have any questions about the Frisco, give us a try. You will be surprised as to how much this group can answer, and we all learn from it! Again, welcome. Ken
Just wondering, what did your dad do for SLSF? I am trying to think if I know the name. Welcome Aboard
Not to be redundant but welcome aboard. My dentist is in Chaffee, MO and he has some old Frisco photos taken in Chaffee on his wall.
Bill, again, Welcome Aboard! I have a timeshare in Bella Vista that I'll be at in June. I'll have to make the trip down the road a few miles and check in on you when I'm in town.
Welcome Aboard Bill, I trust you'll find Frisco.org a great place for Frisco Railroad resources. Don't be afraid to ask your questions. Happy rails, Mike C
