Hi, everybody. I'm totally new at this: we've just recently moved to Missouri from California, where I modeled the SP for forty years. It is time for a new prototype and I chose the Frisco. I'm 65 years old, and am a retired civil engineer. My wife, June, and have been married for 27 years.
I've chosen to model a portin of the Carthage Sub between Columbus and Neodesha, Kansas. Since I only have room for a 10' x 12" bedroom layout, a lot of selective compression is required. I obtained the Sanborn maps for Oswego, Altamont, Cherryvale and Neodesha, Kansas but I would really like to get my hands on the track charts for these four towns as well as photos for the depots. I have photos for the Cherryvale depot: it's going to be a real pain to scratch build!
Thanks for listing. Any help I can get would be deeply appreciated.

    Howdy and welcome Doug,

Funny, I started with the SP in 1968 and moved to the Frisco in the early seventies. the Frisco was a great railroad and loads of fun to model. You can model in branchline style with the Western and Southwestern divisions, or big mainline style with the divisions to the east.

The forum offers quite a bit on information about each of the divisions, their operations, and equipment. The Frisco Folk on here are fantastic, too. If you have a question, ask away...somebody will know.

    Have fun,
    mike

Doug, welcome. You're going to get blown away with the research material available to the new Frisco modelers. This web site is the ideal way to share. We can thank Mike Corley for setting it up. Doug, founder, Ann Arbor, MI

I believe that I have some stuff that may be of interest. I'll try to get it scanned and posted by the end of the week.

Welcome to the forum! I've been modeling Frisco since the early 1980s, and I see more & more info being made available to us modelers. I used to live in Afton, on the Cherokee and Afton Subs, and saw lots of mainline action.

You'll find a lot of folks here that probably forgot more about the Frisco than you and I will remember :D :D :D They're awesome sources of knowledge.

Again, welcome, and keep us posted on your layout-building.

Welcome to the forum and to the neighborhood. There is a lot of great information on this website. Karl has been a great help to my modeling the KC-Clinton-Springfield branch line. And I am really looking forward to seeing the FMIG newsletters online. Should be a lot of great info in those.

Hope to see you at the Joplin trainshow on the Saturday of Thanksgiving Day weekend.
