Second, speaking of unusual Frisco locomotives, a Bachmann Spectrum GE 70-ton 500HP diesel. This came to the Frisco as part of the Okmulgee Northern purchase (it was ON 7). It was not of much use to the Frisco, so, after it was lettered for the Frisco still in OM light blue, with yellow Frisco lettering and numbers as SLSF 70, it spent its time on the Frisco in Newburg and Springfield, eventually being sold. But, it was on the roster folks! Nice body casting, undecorated, twin motors, will pull several cars, looks neat, will give you a unique roster. At least, that was my thought when I bought it out in Salt Lake City several years ago. This is Bachmann item 81101.
Price to frisco.org is $36, plus shipping, probably only around $10 as it is light enough not to need a flat rate box. Payment as before. Thanks. (SOLD)

The final item tonight is a freight car - and not a Frisco car. You guys are shying away from my non-SLSF rolling stock listings. Remember, most Frisco trains had more cars from other roads than Frisco cars. And who had more freight cars than did the PRR? So, here we have a PRR freight car from Bowser (I love Bowser for PRR stuff!).

This is Bowser item #55342, a PRR 40ft X-31a double door round roof box car set up for automobile transport in the days before auto racks. See the pics. It is in boxcar red, in the circle keystone scheme, with Kadee wheels in PRR style trucks, Kadee couplers, and Cal Scale brake hoses. Road number is PRR 81100. Very nice graphics. These cars, for sure, moved on the Frisco as well as many other roads. The round inset roof was one of many PRR unique styles of box car roofs. Adds interest. Build date was June, 1936, with a most recent shop date of July, 1949, so this car is solidly in the Frisco b/y era.
Price to frisco.org is $12, plus $7 shipping via Priority Mail. This item can certainly be combined with other purchases. Payment same as above. SOLD

This is a nice car folks, at a low price. Try it. Thanks.

Ken, I would like to buy the U-Boat! I will pay by money order if that's ok.

My address is 516 E Madison St. Apt.B, Broken Arrow, OK. 74012.

My mom and dad live in Lake Land, FL. Down the road about 115 miles from you. How do you like living in Florida so far?

    Replies:

    Matt -
Thanks! The little 45-ton GE with the side rods a'la the Frisco 11-spot is yours. Neat little thing, and those rods are really neat. I think this might be Bachmann's best effort - at least it is the best of their products I've had.
Also - thanks for getting the PRR X-31A box car. A fine model. Like I said, Bowser specializes in PRR stuff (they are mostly the old Penn-Line company) and they do a great job on them. No shipping needed on the Bowser, it will fit in with the 45-tonner very easily, so only a total of $13.45 needed for shipping along with the two item costs. I might slip in some of your other stuff as well if anything fits.
    Ken

    Joe -
Thanks! The Atlas SLSF 846 U-30b XR is a really neat model with the Extra Reliable logo on it. A money order for the item cost plus $13.45 will be fine. My address is:

You certainly could slip in another item or two from my yet unsold listings and enjoy no shipping cost as per what Matt is doing above.
    Ken

    All -
Remember, you are free to give me a bid offer on any unsold item in my "Naples Update 2" listing above if you don't like the price. My main goal is to move this stuff to a frisco.org home since I no longer have room for it.

Unfortunately, all three of the Frisco cabooses I had have been sold - one Athearn ex-ATSF cab, plus two Atlas ICC wide vision cabs.

Here is tonight's listing - another outstanding o/w Frisco locomotive model. This is the Walthers Proto 2000 FM H10-44 switcher, with the tall hood covering its unique vertical opposed piston engine. This is decorated as SLSF 270, the first of the thirteen SLSF 270-281 + 286 series of 1000 HP FM switchers. This model is very well done - excellent shade of red/orange, Kadee compatible couplers, all wheel drive, cab with crew, thin grabs and rails, directional constant headlights, excellent graphics on the lettering and numbers. In addition, I have detailed this unit - brass jeweled running lights, roof beacon, "nail" antenna, correct horn, brake hoses, and painted accents. This model was featured in an article I wrote for The Meteor. Nice model.
Price to frisco.org members is $72, plus the usual $13.45 for shipping via USPS Priority Mail flat rate box. Other items can certainly be combined with this purchase to enjoy a free ride on shipping. Payment as before, personal check, USPS money order, or PayPal via the "friends & family" option. (Price cut)
This is a unique model, which in the real world, was powered by a unique power plant. I only heard one of these running in real like - a recording in Tulsa at a FMIG meeting. At low loading, the thing sounded like a Singer sewing machine, at heavy loading it sounded great, with a unique, mechanical chugging. Cool. One of my favorite locomotive types. See the pics.
    Thanks. (SOLD)

I'm surprised no one has an interest in the FM H10-44. Neat locomotive, very nice model. Let's cut the price from $82 to $72. I've changed the listing above to reflect $72.

I've also been asked what additional locomotives might be coming up soon. Upcoming locos will include a bunch of undecs. I have a case full of undec Stewart F3 A's & B's (inc the chicken wire F3A's SLSF 5000 & 5001), F7 A's & B's, and F9 A's. The Stewart is a very nice F-unit, Kato drive. They do all have d/b, which the F3's and F7's did not have, but the two F9's did. There also are three undec Stewart Baldwins - one each, VO-1000, VO-660, DS-44-1000. There is an undec Atlas Alco S-2, plus a couple of rare PRR FM C-Liners that I really like, and a PRR Genesis F7A. Might be a few more, too; we'll see. I've set quite a few locomotives aside to keep, most are Frisco - that could change. (SOLD)

Here's one for those of you who like to have sophisticated features in your rolling stock roster. The Frisco, of course, utilized a whole bunch of AAR 2-bay hopper cars. The Frisco cars were AAR "standard design" hopper cars, used by many US railroads in great numbers before larger hopper cars were introduced. There was, however, an AAR "alternate standard design" 2-bay hopper car, which had improved strength, utilizing a few differences in the side sheet design. Easy to see when you put the two designs side-by-side. The Frisco had no alternate standard design 2-bays. But, some of them did sneak over on the Frisco in the St Louis area for one, and probably on other parts of the system as well. In StL, the Litchfield & Madison was a short line in Illinois across the river from St Louis. The L&M used the alternate standard design, and they often were interchanged with roads in Missouri hauling southern Illinois coal, among other things.

Here is Intermountain #47161-06, a Litchfield & Madison AAR 2-bay hopper using the alternate standard design. Done as L&M 1295. Excellent IRC model as usual. IRC trucks and IRC metal wheels. I added Cal-Scale brake hoses, plus I installed a CM Shops coal load, very realistic. Built Jan 1942, lasted a long time. See pics. Price to frisco.org is $14, plus $7 Priority Mail shipping. As always, pay via personal check, USPS money order, or PayPal (preferred) via the "friends & family" option. Thanks.
For sophisticated roster people only! SOLD

The final posting for today. A Red Caboose model, custom built for the Texas Western Railroad Association (thanks Mike!). A 42-ft flat car, fish belly frame and side sills. A dead ringer for the Frisco's cars. Done in the typical yellow the Frisco usually used for flat cars for most of their life, done as SLSF 95644. Excellent model, as are all the Red Caboose cars. I wish they were still around. I added Kadee wheel sets, Cal Scale brake hoses, and installed a Laser-Kit wood deck. These guys were built in the 1920's and lasted a long time - pulled by Frisco steam and both b/y and o/w diesels. Nice graphics, see pics.
