Missouri Southern Railroad and Frisco

Hey folks! I’ve been extensively researching the Salem Branch this year. Conversations back in 2011, over a decade ago, were going on about whether there was an intention to connect the Missouri Southern to the Frisco at Salem.

The simple answer; absolutely. Many different times they tried to push this connection through, so much so that grounds for a depot was donated at Salem, and talks had begun about extending the railroad to Houston, Missouri after it reached Salem.

Obviously, no surprise, it never happened. I have a lot of newspaper clippings about all of the different times they tried to make the connection, but every time it failed.
