Please see the following links for a trackside views of the Manila AR depot. http://www.trainweb.org/arkansastrains/railroad/slsfdepot/JLCEDepotatManila42803/IMG29460.htm http://www.arkansasties.com/Mississippi/Structures/ManilaDepot/Manila.htm The depot's agent / operator bay faced north. Railroad west was to the left in the photographs. This depot was constructed in 1910 by the Jonesboro, Lake City and Eastern (JLC&E) Railroad. The railroad had extended its line into town to tap rich agriculture and timber traffic in December 1900. The JLC&E was purchased by the Frisco in 1938. The Frisco operated the line as the Blytheville Subdivision. Passenger and mail service ended in Manila on May 15, 1948. The freight service only agency and train order office closed 12/20/1977. The depot was later sold to the city which restored the depot to its original condition and incorporated the building into the city public library. The building was listed 2/8/1997 on the National Register of Historic Places. The depot sits at its original location on the northwest corner of South Dewey and Baltimore Avenue (a/k/a Arkansas State Highway 18), between North and South Dewey streets. The address is 105 West North Dewey Street. The building is currently occupied by the Manila Depot Museum.
