One of my best friends has a grandson who is autistic. He's extremely intelligent and is able to accomplish detailed tasks, he just has issues in the social arena.

People keep giving me HO equipment that won't work on our layout. It's all Mantua and Lifelike toy train stuff. So I decided to build a little layout for the grandson. It's done and will be delivered Friday. It's extremely simple: an oval on a 40" X 48" board. My wife picked a nice grass-green spray paint to paint the top. I painted a road on it. There's a signal tower, a small town water tower that looks exactly like the water tower in our town, and a steam locomotive water tower. There are a couple of removable railroad crossing signs for the grade crossing. That's it for now.

The train is a Hormel train that has cars with logos from their specific food products. There's also a Dallas Cowboys commemorative car, so it should be good for the six year old boy. Maybe we'll get some younger blood into the hobby!!
