I thought I would put this thread up for a while to inform everyone about my situation. When I made a trip to Cape Girardeau in November, I noticed that I had some shortness of breath when walking from my car to the hospital entrance where my dad was. When I came back from Cape Girardeau following my dad's funeral, I had chills, fever, headache, accompanied by a mild cough and night sweats. I also had shortness of breath with not very much activity. I went to Urgent Care because I couldn't get in to see my Primary Care Physician. I was diagnosed with COVID and prescribed Paxlovid. The UC doctor remarked my lungs were clear but he heard what he thought was an Aortic valve murmur. He recommended I contact my PCP and arrange for an Echo Cardiogram. I was able to see my PCP the next week. Paxlovid killed the virus and I tested negative three days after starting it. She got a chest X-ray and ran an EKG. She verified the sound of the murmur and set me up for an Echo Cardiogram on Friday 12/15. The EC identified a Mitral Valve Leaf Flail (prolapsed or leaking). A MRR friend who is a retired Cardio Thoracic surgeon has been involved and has gotten me under the care of his protege and heart team. On Friday, 1/5 I will undergo a catheterization procedure to verify that a minimally invasive repair procedure will work. On Monday, 1/8 I will report to St Luke's Mid-America Heart Institute for minimally invasive heart valve repair. Prayers are welcomed. I will keep Mark Davidson in the loop to post updates. Once this is all behind me/us, I will delete this thread.
Continued prayers for you and your family Keith. Hopefully once this is taken care of, 2024 will be a good year for you.
Keith, Marsha and I will be praying for you and Elise. I too have a gradually worsening heart murmur, and I will have an echo cardiogram in February to update its status. We pray that your surgical procedure will repair and give long service to your heart. God's grace to you. Ken McElreath
Keith, my best wishes for your upcoming surgery. May the good Lord be with you and provide you with a speedy recovery Tony LaLumia
Keith, I will be praying for God's supernatural, divine intervention, as well as His guidance to your team of surgeons. We're hoping for the best possible outcome, and for a great 2024 for you!!
Keith: I'll also be lifting you up in prayer. You've got no choice but to get fine and dandy ASAP, because I've still got a butt load of engines needing your expertise! Andre
I had both these repairs done last May, and sailed right through with no complications whatsoever. I'm confident you'll be fine (and feeling much better) when it's done with. Contemporary medicine is amazing! With every good wish, GS
Sounds like you're in great hands Keith. Modern medicine and surgery advances daily. I had an echo month ago and also have a murmur. They will check it again in a year, or at my age sell me for spare parts. I wish my Daughter's Dr would have jumped on her Covid like yours did. I lost her after 11+ months in medical facilities, mostly on a ventilator because he couldn't be bothered to listen to what she was telling him until it was too late. Prayers for you!
Prayers for you Keith, and your surgical team. May the procedure be uneventful and the healing quick. BR
The Coronary Angiogram today went very well. They confirmed no plaque build-up in the arteries or blockages and a high green signal for the Mitral Valve repair on Monday.
