Jointed Rail's SLSF SD-45 is for TRAINZ 2009 and later. It is payware, but features auto-numbering, so all 49 SD-45s come in a single download. TRAINZ randomly assigns a number when they are inserted into a session. Additional units get unique numbers. It is a well-researched and well-executed virtual model. The sounds include the whirs and clanks as well as the full-throated roar. The five-tone horn plays the requisite augmented minor 7th(?) chord. Mouse action works levers in the cab during cab operation mode, which is typical, though a bit intimidating for this novice! There is a gyra-light on top of the cab, the window is L-shaped and the color seems spot on for a freshly-shopped locomotive. The locomotive also has class lights, fan animation and night lighting. There is no weathering, so it will always look clean and new. I sort of like that, for now. Also, number 911 does not get a coonskin on its nose. I suppose a later version could include some kind of conditional sub-routine for that. The attachments show two operating in the Mullan Pass session in TS2010 where they fittingly replaced two green BN GP-38s. George Nelson
I caught this model on one of their weekly specials for $5. I think it was a great value since it is equiped with auto numbering.
Good for you, dricketts, getting it half-price! Were these the SD-45's in your screenshots in the other threads? If so, that makes me a proud(er) owner. George Nelson
