I thought that all frisco E units where red and white, but I was looking at the microscale decals for an E unit and they where the yellow ones. Where any of the E units in the B&Y scheme? http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=MD&Product_Code=87-455
Mike Condren has an excellent primer about the Frisco Redbirds. http://www.cbu.edu/~mcondren/Frisco_PaintShop_Es.htm This web site has a nice compilation of E-unit images, and these should give you a good idea about the E-unit paint scheme(s) http://www.frisco.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=225 http://www.frisco.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=226 No Frisco E-unit appeared with the B/Y livery. Gott sei dank!
It looks like Microscale has revised the 87-455 Frisco E-unit decal sheet. That's good! - the original, in gold, was not very well done. The Herald-King sets were/are much better. The revised Microscale set looks like it is in deluxe gold (yellow), which was used on the later "Racehorse" decor and then on the still later, ugly, red with yellow cigar band scheme. I second Karl's suggestion to have a good look at Mike Condren's site. He will teach everything there is to know about Frisco's E-unit paint schemes. I think I'll order a set of those revised Microscale decals - maybe I can use them on my Frisco E8B! Ken ps - I know, SLSF never had any E8B's, nor any E-unit B's, but I'm doing one anyway. They should have ordered some so that their public timetables would be correct! ps#2 - The Microscale 87-85 freight unit decal set for the Frisco b/y scheme is my favorite decal set of all time.
