I'm thinking about modeling light snow on one module of my layout. What would be the best material to use for this project?

Woodland Scsenics has a new flaky snow product; you might try it and let us know how you like it.

Thank you Ken for the suggestion. I'll be sure to try that on module 09. I like Woodland Scenes. They have great products for modeling any scenery requirements.

Bill Clouser of the St. Louis Model Railroaders wanted to photograph a snowy scene. He sifted flour onto it. Then he carved a foot on the end of a stick to make footprints in the "snow." leading up to a door and around a model in the scene. He got the lighting just right, so the photo was excellent. Sifted flour is not an option for an operating layout, however!

I remember someone using cornstarch. If Bill Clouser did it, it's righteous. He was the best.

Maybe it was cornstarch. I remember being amazed (and fooled) by the image, it was that well-done.

Do you have access to the photo? I would like to see it.
