I've noticed the red coonskins on the front of some HO steam locomitives
posted on this site. Who makes these and are they still available?

I went to Walthers website online catalogue, used their search feature and ordered some along with some other goodies. You can get brass or plastic but they are attached to a headlight bracket which I cut off. I use the plastic ones.

Precision Scale makes the Frisco coonskin headlight bracket in HO scale. The part numbers are 31-607 in brass, 31-608 in black plastic.

This is the former Kemtron part (only the old-timers among us will remember Kemtron!)

I don't remember buying anything from Kemtron, but their catalogs were works of art! All those little bitty parts drawn very acurately (Roughly actual size in HO) with pen and ink.

Thanks for the manufacturer and part number. Unfortunately not listed on their website or available at Walthers. I'll keep looking.

Sure they are ..... you gotta learn how to search.

    Precision Scale at Walthers.com:

    585-31607, brass - $2.75, in stock
585-31608, plastic - $2.25, currently on back order
