    GP7 SLSF 525

    GP7 SLSF 525.

Unknown location (possibly somewhere in Kansas).

    Photographer unknown.

    Slide is dated July 1968.

Edit: Steve Beaty identified this location as Severy, KS. Train is crossing the ATSF Moline branch.

Edit 2/28/2024: Severy, KS, MP 438.6, is on the Wichita Subdivision. The Severy depot was a joint agency with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe (ATSF) Railway. Hidden from view by the locomotive is a gate, normal position against the Santa Fe, protecting the diamond crossing.

This depot had 2 train order signals. Visible is the lower quadrant semaphore train order signal for the Frisco. On the far, east, side of the depot is a paddle type train order signal for the Santa Fe main. Train is westbound. View looking northeast.

Attached are six additional Frisco GP7 pictures that are in my "Enid" negative collection.

There are several more, but they are very poor pictures so I am not going to post them.

These six are not all that great!

Notice the SLSF GP7s that have been repainted into the Mandarin orange and white livery also have their Leslie horns oriented into the all horns facing forward setup.

The black and yellow units have the three forward/two to the rear setup.

    Was this a universal change?

SLSF 518 has ex-ATSF caboose SLSF 1133 in tow. These cabooses looked good on the Santa Fe, even better in their second life on the Frisco.

The SLSF 526 shot is a good profile roster shot of a late-in-life Frisco GP7.
