GP35 SLSF 704, EMD, 2500 HP, EMD 567 GP35 SLSF 712, EMD, 2500 HP, EMD 567 Attached are pics of the only two Frisco GP35s from my "Enid" negative collection. The GP35s are favorites of mine, though they were locomotives with a questionable performance history. The EMD GP35 used the well-proven EMD 567 engine, turbocharged up to 2500 HP. That was the limit of the 567 capability - it proved to be a bit too much. The new EMD engine, the 645, was soon to follow on the EMD 38/40/45 series. These are not the greatest pics of the Frisco GP35s, but they certainly visited Enid and the shutters were snapped when they did. Note the nose stripes on both units. This was a common addition to the early Frisco Mandarin orange and white GP35s. Ken Edit 3/1/2024: Fist photograph of GP35 SLSF 712 is at the Enid locomotive service track. Coupled behind the locomotive is U25B SLSF 818. Note the Enid Terminal Elevator in the distance on the right to the northwest. View looking northwest. Second photograph of GP35 712 at at the Enid locomotive service track. Coupled behind the locomotive are a U25B, GP38-2 and GP7. Note the U.S. 81 Highway / Van Buren Avenue overpass in the distance on the left of the image. To the north, right, of the locomotive is a retired passenger car now in maintenance of way (MOW) service. View looking west. Added photographs narrative. MKD
