    Who can help please ?

I want to model RS-1 #102 as shown on this pic:

    http://www.frisco.org/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=3221&d=1145318775

Is there a decal set for the yellow? stripes or what can i use for ?

An what will be the correct paint for the yellow parts. Sometimes i can read of gold, sometimes of dulux gold by using Badger Soo-Gold. When I look at the picture, it seems for me, a pale yellow will be the right choise .

I don't pay much attention to B&Y (I'm a O/W guy) so I don't know what color of black to use or what to use for striping. But I do know about these.

Presume your doing an Ho scale model. But I will also include links for N and O scales.

    HO - http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2...Code=87-85&Category_Code=SLSF&Product_Count=1

    N - http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2...Code=60-85&Category_Code=SLSF&Product_Count=8

    O - http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2...de=48-332&Category_Code=SLSF&Product_Count=16

    Good luck with your model!

    Joerg,

    Use Oddballs set #180

...for the yellow I too have used Badger SOO deluxe gold.

  4. What do you do about the AT&N sublettering on the coon skin?

IIRC, the AT&N sublettering is by itself below the road number on the cab side. The only coonskin outline (and this was not on all the RS1s) would have been on the hood ends, containing the road number.

I painted an Atlas HO scale RS1 in the black & yellow some time back, and had to consult pics to get the numbers and striping right.

Tom's #180 set includes some empty coonskins; the set also includes the ATN lettering which can be placed in the empty coonskin

    Joerg,

The photograph that was included in your original post above shows SLSF 102. Please see the full side on photograph that more clearly shows the AT&N below the cab number of SLSF 102 at http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=117919

All of the Frisco's RS-1 units were owned under equipment trusts held in the name of the original owner railroad the Alabama Tennessee and Northern (AT&N). As a result, on the cab side below the road number they were sublettered AT&N.

A similar situation existed with the 3 EMD GP7 units the Frisco had lettered on the long hoods for the Quanah Acme & Pacific (QA&P). These units were purchased with equipment trusts by the Frisco. As a result, they were sublettered under the cab numbers with SL-SF. Please see SL-SF 547 lettered for the Quanaha Acme & Pacific (note the SL-SF under the cab number) http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=114906

When we worked with Tom to produce the locomotive set back in the 1990s, we had requested the subletters for SL-SF and AT&N and the coonskin heralds with numbers that were common on early switch engine units. Karl, thank you for scanning and posting as a resource the decal sheet.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Mark

    Joerg-
I look forward to seeing photos of the work-in-progress and the finished product here. While I prefer steam power, the Frisco RS-1s definitely had character.

    Best Regards,

    To All:

In my opinion just another great example of how far this list has gone. More people are joining, more are asking questions, and more are jumping in with their expert and knowledgable advice on helping people build and detail correct models. Another recent example is the F10-44 thread.
