As information: 2 sets of F-!'s just showed up on The New HO swap for $ 180 per set. I don't know if that is a good price.

Thanks for all who posted. I will look old guy. And thanks Ethan. I offered $ 100 per set, but I really don't need another decoder project. I have not put in the ones for the F-3's yet. I don't like putting them in.

If they are not DCC-equipped I would say that price is high.

That's a pretty high price. I've seen several sets of these on ebay and train shows, if memory severs between $100-$120 in price, and they never sell. So $180 is not a good price.

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't seen these offered very often. The ad didn't say DCC so its unlikely.
    Thanks for the reply Greg
I need to lay up, for a little while, I just bought a Frisco 2-8-2 BLI with DCC & Sound. The guy say's he has another one, I am trying to find out what it is. Seems like a lot of Frisco appearing lately.

I ran across a Frisco 2-8-2 from BLI as well, but then it was mislabled in the ad and got it for $71. Every time I go searching for Frisco stuff, I really have to remember, that I really don't need another engine. I really feel for the Katy modelers as the pickings are way slim fo those folks.

Thanks for the posts Ethan and Oldguy. I offered $ 100 per set, but I really do not like putting decoders in.

I have never tried to work on one of these units. What kind of system do they have: is it a "plug and play," or do you have to hard wire it like the older E9/E9s?

Greg, these Proto 2000 FA1/FB1 pairs are relatively easy to install sound in. There is plenty of room behind the cab to put a decoder and I drill a hole through the rear weight to fire a speaker downwards above the rear truck with a speaker enclosure above. It is not a true plug and play, but either of the TSU-750, TSU-1000, or TSU-AT1000 Alco 244s will work.

I have this FA-1/FB-1 set and installed sound following the notes at:

    http://www.dccwiki.com/FA-2_with_Tsunami

on the DCC wiki site. The housing for the speaker works well with this unit, especially the B unit where there is more room.

I did not increase the bid of $ 100 per set, i am thinking of $ 125, that would be nearly all I would do. The guy did come through with the Broadway Limited 4004 for $ 225. I don't know how hard they are to find. It has DCC and Sound.

The best combination for best sound is the TSU-AT1000 board with a speaker above the rear truck.
