    Howdy,

We have a great collection of about all the depots on FRISCo_Org, but we are lacking in the passenger car area. What do folks think about beginning a massive campaign to post photos, diagrams, etc. about all the FRISCO passenger cars beginning the 1st of September 2007?

We could organize it with special sections for train consists, so we could list all the passenger cars that might be found in a train, including name trains and the cars in scheduled trains. We could add the locos that pulled the trains, too. Other ideas are welcome.

    |-| At the end of a two months of successful posting, I'll put the names of everyone who contributed photos and diagrams into a hat, draw one out, and send them one of the nice AMB Frisco wooden caboose kits (http://www.laserkit.com/images/863pr.jpg). |-|

    Best Regards,
    mike

Great idea, Mike! Perhaps I can finally motivate myself to include drawings, etc. of the oddball #944 coach/combine/caboose that ran on Train 875/876. If I'm really ambitious I might even finally kitbash a HWT coach into a 700-series coach!

    Let the submissions begin!

    Mike -

Great idea! It's September 1 ..... let's get it on!

I assume your definition of Frisco "passenger cars" includes baggage, express and RPO's?

Here's heavyweight RPO 2055 at, I believe, Newburg. I don't know who to credit the photo to.

    Howdly,

Indeed, passenger means anything pulled or related to passenger trains.

Here's baggage SLSF 355. Again, I don't know who took the photo.

Come on guys, let's see some more passenger car postings.

This photo of #355 is a company "roll out" photo after one of its rebuildings (probably 1951) and repainting. I have a copy I bought at a train show--I forget where??

PS: I'm new here--how do you go back and look at previously posted photos?

    #2055 was a full-length RPO used on the KC-Fla. Special and was rebuilt from (15') RPO-baggage 224 in 1962.

    Howdy folks,

We're nearing the end of the line for the passenger car posting campaign. I am hoping to make the count of postings and award the AMB Frisco caboose kit in time for the holidays.

There is still time to post as many pictures, diagrams, etc about passenger cars, and passenger trains as possible.

    Have fun,
    mike

    Howdy folks,

Better late than never... I retired in December and have been completely consumed with detaching from IBM and enjoying the holidays with family.

I finally had a chance to tally the passenger posts since September 2007, and we had about 79 posts related to passenger cars, trains, and services.

    Top posters were:
    Tom Galbraith #1
    Chris Abernathy #2
    Ken Wulfert #3

So the AMB Frisco caboose goes to Tom. Tom, if you'll send me an email with a mailing address, I'll get it in the mail to you. Thanks to Chris and Ken, too. Thanks to everyone who contributed time and effort to improving FRISCo_Org passenger information. The forum is a shared possesion of the Frisco community and Frisco Folks appreciate every time you share your experiences, data, and photos.
    :D

On a related note, we need to improve the organization of the passenger car data, so I went to my trusty Passenger Car book from the old museum thinking I could use it as a guide for organizing photos and texts. I was stunned at how many classes/cars there were. Organizing by car class would be tedious and not productive. Another approach might be to use a car type, streamlined and heavy weight subdivided into coach, diner, baggage, pullman, etc. Do any of you have any ideas how we might make FRISCo_Org more user friendly when searching for passenger related information? Perhaps we can add a subforum under passenger trains for all the passenger train names, numbers, and consists/car listings.

If there is a Frisco folk out there who has exceptional knowledge or passion for passenger cars, I'd love to have you as a moderator for the passenger car subforum. Please send an email if you are interested.

    Best Regards,
    Mike Corley
