Hello, I recently grabbed some old books from a garage sale and an old map (in excellent condition) of Frisco Lines Map of Missouri was tucked into the pages. The book was unrelated to railroads, just a lucky tuck, I guess. The book it was in was published in 1929 so I imagine the map is around that age? I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about these maps? Like value? Does it belong in a museum? Rare? Any info is helpful. I have photos, I just haven't uploaded yet and not sure if I need to. Any info anyone has is greatly appreciated. shannon
Shannon. Sounds like you did get a lucky find. Could you upload a photo or two of the map and maybe we can place a date on it. Normally maps will give a year. Ethan
Interesting map. Hopefully some one on the form will have some knowledge. Only thing I can tell ya is it's post 1901. Ethan
The map still shows the Rich Hill Branch, and the last run on that line was made on April 29, 1926, so we know that the map is at least that old. Other details are blurry, so it's difficult to see any other clues. If you are inclined to donate it to a museum, may I recommend Missouri State University in Springfield, which was the heart of the Frisco. That institution has a fair collection of Frisco items, and I have the contact information for the archivist. Send me a private message, and I will forward her e-mail to you. If you are inclined to sell it, then ebay would be the way to go.
Shannon, If you send me the map, I will have it scanned into a pdf file at FedEx Office and post the file here. I will then donate the map to Missouri State University on your behalf.
