I am repainting non Frisco heavyweight cars to Frisco and am wondering if the Frisco painted their cars a green other than Pullman green? If so, does anyone know how to figure out which cars were which green. Thanks, for any help on this. Terry
Pullman green was it. The Santa Fe green, for instance, was different. In the late passenger train era, some of the LW Frisco cars had their window areas painted Pullman green (Roof and ends black). BTW, in the new MR, the Atlas (Old Branchline) passenger cars are now being offered. The paired window car will pass for the Frisco 770-775 series cars. The only heavyweights not PG were the red and silver cars painted for the Meteor and Texas Special. Tom G.
Thanks, Tom. That simplifies the painting. I knew there used to be a color called Coach Green, but didn't know if it was used on the Frisco. I have a couple of the Branchline paired window coaches in C&O colors, so I have more paint removal and repainting to do. Terry
Speaking of Pullman green and painting, what companies are offering a Pullman Green these days? I still have an old bottle of Floquil, I don't know who has a good line of railroad colors now?? I suppose everybody has gone water base now, correct? Thanks, Tom G.
I have been searching for PG paint, also, with no luck. I can't believe that one of the paint companies hasn't come out with what should be a popular color as it was used all over the U.S. Terry
I've been tempted to try some of the military colors. Olive drab would be close to Pullman green. "Olive gloss," I guess if there would be such thing. Tom G.
If you do try it, let us know what you think. I have looked at the color sample of olive drab on the internet, and can't tell what the color actually is. Some of the colors I see on those samples baffle me as to their accuracy. Terry
Pullman green is still available from Scalecoat paint which is now made by Minuteman Scale Models at: www.minutemanscalemodels.com
