For those interested, "Alibris" and "ABE Books" (Internet book sellers) have copies of: --Frisco Power by Joe Collias --Frisco Diesel Power by Marre and Harper --Frisco In Color by Marre and Sommers --Frisco and Katy Color Guide to Freight Equipment by Molo --Steam Locomotives of the Frisco Line by Lloyd Stagner all at fairly decent prices. --Copies of Frisco Southwest by McCall and Schultz are much higher. Some of these titles are also available at Amazon.com. Not all books are available from all these sellers. I have no connection to any of these sellers except have been a satisfied customer of all. LOTS of questions asked and topics discussed on the chat board are revealed in these books. Tom
I do not understand why Frisco Southwest brings such high prices? Another paperback that was also printed by Kachina Press that demands high prices is the Santa Fe Raton Pass book. The Santa Fe boys have had it reprinted with additional coverage so who would want a old outdated worn copy at an unrealistic price? Mabie Frisco.org can get "Southwest" reprinted? Frisco Folks missed the list. It got reprinted too and this indicates there IS a dedicated following of the Frisco. Hofsommer´s Quannah Route has gone into reprints too! If we can only get a book on the AT&N...Any Time At Night... Southeast...Southwest...Ship IT on the Frisco! Joe Toth
If you are interested in Frisco Folks contact larry parrish on this site via PM. He has them for sale.
Frisco Southwest is an excellent little book and probably wasn't a big printing. I had mine hardbound at a local bindery and still enjoy it.
My copy of Frisco Southwest was loaned out to my best friend who lived in Tampa, Florida. He passed suddenly on April 22, 2006, at age 59. His step-sister disposed of his collection ASAP despite a bunch of his friends who wanted to purchase a lot of the O scale trains, books and slides from her. It caused some friction to say the least. I had several books on loan to him at the time despite being "10,000" miles away in Germany. Best friends are like this! Does anyone know anything regarding the copyright for Frisco Southwest? Since the Santa Fe folks have had the other Kachina book reprinted on the Santa Fe´s Raton Pass perhaps there is a way to do the same with "Southwest" including additional material? Joe Toth
Two copies of "Frisco Southwest" on eBay, one fairly reasonable (On bidding so far), the other higher: http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRISCO-SOUTHWEST-/300599584933?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45fd21a8a5 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Frisco-Sout...901?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae23a6ec5 Tom
I need to check with some friends who may just happen to have a copy of Frisco Southwest before I make a purchase elsewhere. How about the South Platte Press book Frisco Steam Finale 1946-1952? With so many Frisco pix on line now I am careful to purchase everything Frisco. "Scrapbook" paperbacks are nice but the good solid hardbound books with history and good photo selections are my preference. Hope Steve Goen will consider a good Frisco color pictorial like the others he has published with Four Ways West! And is there anything out there on the AT&N? Some good info on websites but a book is a long time coming it seems. When I first met Ed Bunch at the Tampa off-line traffic office in 1962 he had a small book on the QA&P. It had a blue hardbound cover without a dustjacket if memory serves me well. Anyone out there know about this one? Please direct me and other new members to an all time Frisco book list here if one has been posted. Thanks, Joe Toth
"Frisco Steam Finale" is out of print, but the publisher will make an effort to find emailers a copy if one is known to be available. That is, still in stock at a dealers, slightly damaged, in an estate etc. http://www.southplattepress.com/outofprint.html Tom
As of 1:23 PM CDT, 10-6-11, no one has bid on the copy (eBay, see below) of "Frisco In Color"!!?? In addition, ABE BOOKS has a copy of Marre's "Frisco Diesel Power." http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?sts=t&tn=frisco+diesel+power&x=75&y=12 Both books asking $37. FYI. Posters are always asking questions on this chat board that these books and a couple of others provide answers to...Time's running out on these books, they're not always going to be around and the prices will keep on rising! Tom Edit: Here's a copy of Collias' "Frisco Power" on eBay, $50: (eBay # 400246384609)
Copy of Lloyd Stagner's Steam Locomotives Of The Frisco Line on eBay. Current bid $15 (as of Oct. 9, 2011, 11:45 PM CDT) eBay # 150671498068 Tom
I was in Caboose Hobbies in Denver yesterday (Sunday 10/9) and they have a brand-new copy of the Marre Frisco in Color in stock. I believe their price for MSB books is $54.95. Obviously unless you live in Colorado, you will not pay sales tax, which should pretty well offset the shipping cost. GS
Have received my copy of Frisco Diesel Power. It is a replacement for my copy loaned to my best friend who passed away in 2006. His half-sister disposed of his collection before the "bums" could claim anything that had been loaned to him. I found my copy in California and it still had its original shrinkwrap. Price was $37.00. Ho ha! A great book! Now to get Steve Goen to do a Frisco book in color to compliment his other books on railroads in the Southwest! Still wonder if there has ever been anything published on the AT&N? Joe Toth
Thanks to my friend Tom for the plug for my book. This is just a guess at this point, but I would say put "Frisco in Color, Vol. 2" on your Christmas wish list for next year. I am doing final edits now, and the manuscript will be in the hands of the publisher within a very short time. GS
Will there be a vol. 3? A stand alone Frisco equipment color book is really needed! Hope y´all have ordered your copy of the TRRA´s Texas Special publication, #69. Hope they´ll do one on the MRS now that their flag has been lowered. Like the Frisco, another big loss! St. Louis will never be the same...is there a boycott agsinst H-B. No more Frisco Bud drinkers? Joe Toth
Well, for equipment, there's the "Frisco and Katy Color Guide to Freight Equipment" by Nick Molo from Morning Sun. There aren't that many more color slides (Nor interested authors) "out there" for just an endless supply of Frisco books. Tom
Not being an old head on this site, just how was the Frisco/Katy equipment book accepted by the Frisco community? Wonder if Steve Goen has considered a Frisco book with Four Ways West? His books compliment the ones that have been published by Morning Sun on the Katy, Rock, Santa Fe and KCS. I have a vintage slide of Frisco 44 tonner #6, location unknown, possibly Pensacola. Contact Mike Corley as he scanned it recently. On its way back to me it got stuck at German customs. Big Brother is alive and well! It scared the coal out of my caboose stove that it had been lost. Joe Toth
I don't know about the "Frisco Community," but I liked my copy fine. Typical nice Morning Sun release. Besides freight cars of the two lines, the book also has about a half dozen passenger car photos including a Katy heavyweight diner decorated in the red-siver-shadow stripe Texas Special scheme. Steve Goen has had a falling out with Four Ways West, not likely he'll do any other books with them. Tom

Recently a copy sold on the bay for about $30. Not bad for what these go for sometimes. This book is never going to be much under $30 (Another recent eBay sale was $89!). If you're intersted in FSW, you'll really need to be on the lookout... Tom Edit: This seller has a LOT of other nice RR books offered for sale--FYI.
