Please see the attached link for a street side view of the Frisco's freight house at Sapulpa, OK.

The freight house at this location dates from at least 1909. This wood frame structure is currently used by a seed and farm supply store. The building is on the southwest quadrant of North Main Street (a/k/a Oklahoma Highway 97) and the Frisco's Oklahoma Subdivision.

This is 11 blocks south of I-44. From the interstate take the Oklahoma Highway 97 (a/k/a Main Street) Exit 215 and travel south. The freight house is on the west side (right), just across (south) of the railroad tracks.

The address is 120 North Main Street.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Mark,

I drive past that building pretty regular. Once upon a time it was actually setting across Main Street and blocked access to the road across the tracks. When it was moved, I do not know. It's been like it is now ever since I was a kid.

Another building that interests me is the one behind the OG&E substation right next to the tracks and about 4 blocks east. It's at the intersection of Hobson and N. Oak. Painted white. Not sure what it was used for but it's got railroad written all over it.

And here's a shot fo the current depot on the site of the old Harvey House.

The TSU is just down the road a little bit to the east. Here is their engine house. You can see the current BNSF mainline tracks in the background heading south.

    Terry,

Thanks for posting a response and more information. As a local could you take and post photographs of these buildings for everyone to enjoy?

Not too far south, there is also the Boynton depot that needs to be photographed. Unfortunately, Google Maps does not have the side streets surveyed in this town. This might make a nice weekend day trip with better spring time weather coming.

With so few Frisco structures and equipment left it would be great to get more photographs, measurements, field notes, etc. posted so we can all share.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Terry,

Thank you for adding some local field research on Supulpa.

These are great photos and help us document Frisco and related structures in the area. Your comments also help establish time frames around the relocated frame freight house and the replacement bridge. Also by identifying the height of the storage tank you helped establish a useful measure for the height on the freight house. Great job!

It is terrific to see others willing to help with field research. This is an important aspect of this site as all to often we say "if only" we had shot or measured this building, industry, caboose, bridge, etc. All too quickly some of our favorite railroad or industry structures or equipment have gone the way of a major vandalism, fire, bulldozer or wrecking ball.

There is some good fodder in these photos for drawings, histories, construction, etc articles for upcoming issues in the Meteor! I suspect the editor, Richard Napper, would welcome your article input.

Thank you again for your assistance!

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
