Please see the following links for photographs of Frisco caboose SLSF ???.

This is one of the wood side cabooses with a steel cupola that featured vertical sides and large end windows. The caboose was originally constructed in 1929. The lower end railing on the A end has been modified from its original arrangement with extra vertical posts added. Also a dwelling light has been added under the eave and the ladder is missing on this end of the caboose.

The caboose is owned by the Oklahoma Railway Museum, 3400 Northeast Grand Boulevard, Oklahoma City, OK. The museum is operated by the Central Oklahoma Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS). Please see http://www.oklahomarailwaymuseum.org.

The caboose was moved by truck to their museum 8/7 and unloaded 8/8/2008. The caboose had been at a private residence at 3220 Southeast 30th Street (one block west of Sooner Road), Moore, OK.

This caboose is currently stored just south of the museum on a sidetrack at the north end of the Oklahoma City Public Schools Service Center.

The address is 2820 Miramar Boulevard.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

Does the museum still sell those calendars featuring the great Preston George photos?

The calendars were like the old the Railfan Club used to do.

    Tom,

I have been in touch with the Oklahoma Railway Museum.

The museum no longer produces calendars featuring the great Preston George photographs. However, they currently have a terrific deal on prior years calendars in stock.

As of 3/18/10, in stock they have calendars form '82, '85, '86, '88, '93, '96, '97, '98, '99, '00, '01, '02 and '03. They are willing to sell a package deal with 1 of each year in stock (currently 13) for $5.00. Postage is extra. Please contact the museum directly if interested.

This is a really great deal. At 12 photographs per calendar for 13 years that works out to 156 images. That in turn is only $0.032 per shot. Lots of photographs for only $5.00, plus a little postage.

I encourage anyone interested to join the museum or at least chip in a little extra to help support the organization. After all they are working to help preserve 2 Frisco cabooses and 1 faux "Frisco" F-9 locomotive painted in black and yellow.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Caboose SLSF ???

Also, the museum does not yet know the Frisco number for this caboose.

Anyone with information that could help us track down the number and history are encouraged to contribute.

A special thank you to Anne at the museum for her kind assistance. She is now another new member to Frisco.org.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Mark,

In my mind Preston was the preeminent rail and Frisco photographer of the era and area.

I will check out the calendars.
