Please see the following link for a photograph of Frisco caboose SLSF 1440.

This caboose was constructed during 8/1976 by the Frisco at the Springfield West Car Shops. The main car body came from Pullman Standard PS-1 boxcar SLSF 18361.

This car has retained its original windows. When originally constructed the car was not equipped with roof walks or end ladders. Note the brace on the smoke stack.

The dull aluminum framed windows stand out nicely against the red car body. The car body is features well maintained paint and lettering.

Unfortunately Google Maps has not completed street level photographic surveys in this area. However, although a rural area, this region has been surveyed with aerial birds eye views by Bing Maps. This is a valuable asset for locating the caboose and is worthy of checking out the link below.

The caboose is located approximately 4 miles southwest of the junction of U.S. Highway 45, U.S. Highway 278 and Mississippi Highway 41. The caboose is located just over 2 miles southwest of the town of Wren at a rural private residence.

From Wren go south approximately 2 miles on U.S. Hwy 45 to Whatley Road, then turn east approximately 1/2 mile to the "T" shaped intersection with Little Coontail Rd. The caboose can bee seen on the south side, past the last house driveway, just before the stop sign.

The address is 20000 Whatley Rd., Wren, MS.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
