Received an Atlas #1096-2 11,000 gallon chemical tank car today, done as Solvay #8810. Silver & black, green lettering & logo, and ..... green trucks (cool!). Lettered for liquid chlorine (CL2) service.

This is a very nice car, outstanding graphics and paint job. I plan to add a few details - brake line hoses, detail for the emergency relief valving, change out the wheels & couplers, etc.

Atlas is doing some nice stuff these days.

Hmmm. I've not noticed this problem with the Atlas 11k gal t/c. I put it on display after I got it yesterday, coupled to an Intermountain t/c on one end and a Proto 2K t/c on the other end. Couplers match perfectly. I just took the car into the workshop and set it on the track with the Kadee coupler height gauge on it. Perfect match.

Why don't you call Atlas about it? They are always happy to talk with customers.

The Atlas trucks are indeed screwball. I usually try to use the same truck frame so I don't have to mess with their mountings, but try to substitute other wheelsets. I don't like the Atlas wheel's shiny surface or, usually, the wheel contour. The contour on this car's wheels look OK though. This is a good t/c to have as it has a different size/shape than the others I have, and I have many being an old chemical guy. Look at most strings of t/c's from the 30's/40's/50's/60's - most of the cars don't match; many different sizes and shapes.
