    4-8-2 SLSF 1523

    4-8-2 SLSF at Terminal Station, Birmingham, Ala.

    Photograph dated 1942.

    In the background is the dome structure of the depot.

    Terminal Station was demolished September 22, 1969.

    By September 20, 1951, the 4-8-2 SLSF 1523 was stored, unserviceable, at Springfield.

    Unlike her sisters SLSF 1501, 1522, 1526, 1527, and 1529, who escaped the scrapper's torch, she would not be as fortunate.

    Here she is during the spring of 1954 awaiting the inevitable.

    I seem to remember a photograph or two of her during the late 1940s with trains Nos 807/808.

    Will have to check further.
