1500 series vs. USRA Heavy Mountain

I recently purchased an O scale USRA heavy mountain locomotive. I hoped to modify it to closely resemble a 1500 series locomotive. I realize it may be off a little. I don't want to modify the boiler diameter or anything that dramatic. Will this be a pretty close approximation, or way off?

    Thanks!

    Skipper,

    Some food for thought.

Karl, you're good. Alan Hale would be proud.

Although it describes an HO model, the following thread has good info:

A USRA light mountain is pretty close; a USRA heavy mountain is still close enough for my tastes.
