River City Railroad & Amusement Co.

On the weekend of July 9-11th a group of fellow Frisco modelers and good friends converged on Wichita to help me continue building my dream railroad. This is the second time this has been done and this group included Rick McClellan (Rick McClellan) and Keith Robinson (klrwhizkid) from Kansas City and Jim Senese (KCTRWY) from Claremore, OK. Tony LaLumia (Friscotony) from here in Wichita helped before and after the weekend. The River City Railroad & Amusement Co. is an HO scale layout recreating a portion of the Wichita Subdivision in the late summer/fall of 1980. The room housing the layout is approximately 350 sq. ft. and the benchwork and track completed so far represents the 12.7 mile segment between the division point of Neodesha and the next town west or Fredonia. A future addition will take the line even further westward but how far has yet to be determined. The name is derived from my love of the musical “The Music Man”, the fact that Neodesha is the confluence of two rivers one of which parallels the portion of the line that I am modeling, and my love for carnival and circus trains. As the layout progresses I will post updates and pictures.
