International Space Station

This is the project I worked on from 1996 to 2002. I was the lead mechanic on the IEA (Integrated Equipment Assembly)

Some of the bulkheads were machined undersized so we could use shims of various thickness's to meet the plus/minus 0.010 of an inch, about the thickness of a human hair for an assembly 25ft long, 16 wide and 14 tall. We signed our names on the shims with an electric sribe, so we are in space so to speak lol
There are 10,008 fasteners in each unit and we had stepdrill 80% of them by hand. 75% were 3/8in and the reminder are 1/2in each unit was worth 25 million dollars when we shipped. I had to retire when I was 46 bc was told I had ALS but since I didn't pass they did some tests and found didn't have it. All of the heavy drilling tore up my hands and they ache sometimes
