This is probably one of the longer sections of tangent track on the branch. It's interesting, the field to the right I once loaded square bale hay out of. Now days it's so grown up with sprouts and brush you can't hardly make out the edge of the woods.
My father thought long and hard about purchasing this branch line after he retired from the BN. I wonder if that would have worked out for him...
@jmoore16 Would make a super steam line! Rugged and the Army has upgraded most everything on it. Once upon a time, it had full signaling with semaphores. It's really a main line RR that was built to handle Frisco's biggest engines. Believe it or not, I once pitched the idea to Gussie Busch and stressed how it would boost the economy. I Proposed Newburg as the terminal and suggested possibly 3 of the surviving six 1500s. This was many years ago, maybe in 1970+/-. I got a quick answer cordially thanking me for the idea, but AB was deep in other projects at the time. I still have the letters around somewhere.
