I'm putting the finishing touches on a 1330 2-8-0, Hallmark with correct doghouse and bell out front. And MP (STLB&M) 1161 4-6-2 to put out there for sale. Next up, I'm fighting with a Hallmark 187 to get it running good. New cylinders and better detail. It will be on the market too. I have to stop adopting these basket cases.
1330 is basically finished. Just have to do a final inspection, touch it up and maybe very lightly weather it. Tender floor is drilled for speaker, can motor installed and provision for a headlight bulb. Ready for DCC. Runs smooth and quiet. I'll post some photos when I take them. I've had good luck selling models on Facebook rather than ebay.
Don, I have a young friend who's been looking for a 1300 with the smokebox mounted bell so this is great news. He's ready to buy if it's anywhere in the ballpark of the locos you've put up on Facebook... Meanwhile I recently finished up the DCC install in the 4300 I picked up a while back, as well as a headlight and some ashpan glow for a friend's 1500.
Happy Workshop Wednesday and Independence Day Eve, Taking Friday off for a long weekend, and hope to get the new Weir City wye section operational. We have some roadbed down, the wood bases for the gaps down, and beginning to cut in the turnouts on the original Weir trackwork (wye was an afterthought). This is the finished 1330. Can motor, bell up front and correct doghouse. All glazing and lenses. No driver wear and runs good. $325+USPS Priority Mail. Will go to Facebook in a day or so.
Congratulations on your new locomotive, Matthew!!! Don does impressive work and it will be a treasure to own. Joe
Finished another engine to sell. After this, I'll attack the little 187 again and get it tweaked and painted. This is a Missouri Pacific (St L B&M) Texas line P73 4-6-2.
Today, I cleaned up all the solder joints and blasted my Sunset 1039. Did a pretty radical rebuild on it. Westinghouse cross compound pump instead of the dual single lung pumps. Smokebox front rework with bell in front, big sand dome and a Delta trailing truck. Will probably be painting it real soon.
I have an ancient Comco microblaster that I rescued from where I worked about 30 years ago. Also have a Paasche big blaster which can be turned down where it isn't using a bucketful of sand. Actually I like it better right now since my Comco is getting worn out. I have a benchtop cabinet I got at the Chinese Hardware store (Hazard Fraught) that works great for me.
