Rick, I like the thinking on the Tulsa design. In my much-too-limited experience, I have learned the following about myself: (1) I do not like completely-hidden staging, (2) When the staging is under a visible layout section, the staging yard is often much too dark. When you say "rope light," are these the LED ropes? There was an interesting sidebar in Model Railroad Planning 2009 about using LED ropes/bars for layout lighting. I eagerly look forward to seeing more pics-in-progress, and seeing the Southward Expansion in person down the road. Best Regards,
Rick: It's looking good! I sure wish I could have been there to help but Mommy Nature just wouldn't allow it. Sorry. Bob
Rick, look's like you're making good progress. Make sure to more pictures when you get the track work done at Lamar. And remember the Rule I told you about the O'Sullivan (lawn boy) plant track, no 6 axle power.
The Tulsa staging yard has performed fairly well so next week starts the expansion south to Lamar. Photos to follow. BTW here is an interesting article on favorite peanut butters for your amusement. http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/food/big-bite-taste-test-peanut-butter-713128
Peter Pan Creamy all the way ..... #1 !!! Don't agree about the Skippy - it's OK, but a definite #2 vs. Peter Pan. Ken
Ken--You probably remember Peter Pan from Sky King who kept the bad guys at bay out in Arizona! REAL MEN eat Peter Pan, not Skippy or Jif! Tom
You bet! Sky King with his cute niece Penny, flying around over Frisco territory in that twin Beech or twin Cessna, whatever it was, keeping the bad guys at bay, all brought to you by Peter Pan peanut butter. Those were the days! Ken
Yessir - Hard to beat a good PB and banna sandwich. OK - Here's a toss up for you ...... What was the name of Skyking's plane? BTW Ken, It was a Cessna
It must be nice having good paying jobs so that you can afford Peter Pan, Jif and Skippy. Us unemployed guys are down to Best Choice or Dollar store, but we still love it! So does my little Dog! El Bob Oh
Wasn't there also a young guy who flew around with them - Sky King's nephew? Wasn't his name Clipper? He didn't look near as nice as Penny! Had some Peter Pan for lunch today. Mmmmmmm! Ken
Any of you guys get the Sky King Aztec Emerald Calendar ring (By sending in 25 cents and two innner seals from Peter Pan jars to: Derby Foods, Chicago 77, Illinois)? I'm not all that great as a modeler, but you guys are out of your league if were going to play radio trivia! Tom
when I moved down here I knew I would be in for some culture shocks but one of the most damaging was seeing a banana "samich" made with mayonaise...go ahead and try it...I dare you
Talking about a blog wandering off, but anyway "Out of the clear blue of the western sky comes....SKYYYY KING" At first it was a Cessna T-50 Bobcat then a Cessna 310. Oh by the way Rick, great progress on the railroad. John
Way late arriving on the Peanut Butter discussion/comparison but to me hands down Jif is the best. When I worked for Procter & Gamble we sold Jif and I remember asking one of the food division guys why it was so much smmother and better and he said it an ingredient the others didn't, Honey. That's right Honey. In the last several years they (now Smuckers owns the brand) have even come out with a Honey Jif which means it has even more. Super Target sells it here. It is awesome!
Great looking Firefly! Can anyone provide some guidance on how to model it? I've always wanted to make one of them but the design is intimidating.
I always thought it was Ivory Liquid they put in there. Just kidding !!! What would Sky King think if we old-timers preferred Jif over Peter Pan? Ken
