After reading a post by Andre Ming a month or two ago, I have decided to give a serious try to modelling the KC West Bottoms virtually in MSTS. After much searching I have come up empty-handed with regard to track charts/elevations, etc. Sanborn maps can only get you so far. If anybody has scans of anything, not just Frisco, that might be remotely of use in this project, I would be most appreciative.
This is from "Oddballs" website. Might be of help to you. http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?T=1&S=12&Z=15&X=451&Y=5411&W=3
Hi jc: Your tracks can pretty much follow the lay of the land in the West Bottoms area. Personal recon over the years in the West Bottoms indicates there really wasn't much grading or gradients to deal with. Now, if you head south toward SF Jct, or go north up around to the East Bottoms and intend to model some of the city trackage the KCS used, then it becomes a different matter. However, in WB proper: Not much grading. So, in MSTS, the tracks can follow the land contour. There were a couple of very helpful pics w/track overlays in one of the threads you reference. I'm sure you saw them. IMHO, you will have to extrapolate from such pictures and other tidbits of known data and do the best you can. Good luck! Andre
