U.S. Highway 61-67 / MP RR Overpass - Bridge 39.5 - Crystal City, MO, MP 40.0 - St. Louis Subdivision

Bridge over US 61-67 at Crystal City, MO.

Edit 2/1/2024: This bridge spans U.S. Highways 61 and 67 and the Missouri Pacific (MP) Railroad. The Missouri Pacific has a branch that extends under the left span and parallels the highway at this point.

A separate stub end spur crosses the highway to serve several local industry customers. The MP grade crossing is their MP 4.9. Note the grade crossing flashers and cross bucks protecting the highways.

Steel portion of the bridge includes one 60'-0" deck plate girder (DPG), one 50'-0' deck plate girder (DPG) and two 57' deck plate girders (DPG). The total length of the steel spans is 224'-0". Note the south end approach trestle on the left.

The steel portion of the bridge has been expanded over the years. The first section built was the 60' span in 1903. Later the 50' DPG was added in 1925. Finally the two 57' spans were added in 1955.

Added bridge narrative including railroad below, bridge number, mile post and subdivision.
