U.S. Highway 31, Nashville Avenue / L&N Overpass - Bridge 863.3 - Atmore, AL, MP 862.8 - Pensacola Subdivision Atmore, AL Frisco Crossing over CSX's ex L&N. Mobile - Jacksonville line by Gary McCullah. Edit 2/1/2024: The bridge consists of one 60'-0" through plate girder (TPG) and one 74'-0" deck plate girder (DPG). The 74' section spans U.S. 31 Highway / West Nashville Avenue and the 60' section spans the Louisville and Nashville (L&N) Railroad. The bridge was fabricated and erected in 1927. The total length of the bridge is 134'-0" Just to the north is a separate 34'-0' deck plate girder (DPF) bridge over West Ridgley Street. It too was fabricated and erected in 1927. To the north of this bridge is a 27 panel, 28 bent wood pile inclined trestle approach. The trestle approach is 607'-0" long. This bridge is parallel to and West of Williams Street. It total bridge length is 641'-0". Frisco extended or wide vision caboose SLSF 1215 is preserved a shorth distance to the west, south of U.S 31. Does anyone have other documentation describing when the Frisco stopped servicing and repairing locomotives at Fort Scott, KS? I found the attached article, but I'm not sure if they closed it, or continued to provide locomotive maintenance functions at this location after the fire.
