    U.S. Highway 31, Nashville Avenue / L&N Overpass - Bridge 863.3 - Atmore, AL, MP 862.8 - Pensacola Subdivision

Atmore, AL Frisco Crossing over CSX's ex L&N. Mobile - Jacksonville line by Gary McCullah.

Edit 2/1/2024: The bridge consists of one 60'-0" through plate girder (TPG) and one 74'-0" deck plate girder (DPG). The 74' section spans U.S. 31 Highway / West Nashville Avenue and the 60' section spans the Louisville and Nashville (L&N) Railroad.

The bridge was fabricated and erected in 1927. The total length of the bridge is 134'-0"

Just to the north is a separate 34'-0' deck plate girder (DPF) bridge over West Ridgley Street. It too was fabricated and erected in 1927. To the north of this bridge is a 27 panel, 28 bent wood pile inclined trestle approach. The trestle approach is 607'-0" long. This bridge is parallel to and West of Williams Street. It total bridge length is 641'-0".

Frisco extended or wide vision caboose SLSF 1215 is preserved a shorth distance to the west, south of U.S 31.

Added bridge detail and caboose narrative including streets underneath, bridge number, mile post and subdivision.

Does anyone have other documentation describing when the Frisco stopped servicing and repairing locomotives at Fort Scott, KS?

I found the attached article, but I'm not sure if they closed it, or continued to provide locomotive maintenance functions at this location after the fire.
