Trailer Train help needed

Discussion in 'General' started by Stuart Mitchell, Nov 15, 2006.

  1. Hi..

I want to build a 24 car trailer train, I have the decals, I have the trailers. Now I need some info on what flats they used. Length, type and if all possible some plans so I can make some.

    Thanks

    In what time frame?

Some of Frisco's 42'6" flatcars were equiped for trailer loading, but Frisco was a member/owner of the Trailer Train pool of equipment.

The information I have, which is a reprint of some Frisco sales literature from November,1960 indicates that Frisco owned 35 TOFC cars (the 42'6" cars mentioned before) and at the time they were assigned 125 cars from the Trailer Train Fleet. The exact cars assigned to the Frisco would have varried, and it could have included any cars in the Trailer Train Pool at the time (which in the early 1960s consisted mostly of 50' and 85' flatcars).

By the late 1960s, and all through the 1970s, the Trailer Train fleet was predominantly 89' flatcars in several variations.
