    The induction detector car had one weakness, i.e., they could not be used in the joint area. To overcome this weakness, Sperry developed a technology that used sonic energy to detect flaws in the angle bar region. It's the same technology used in OB sonagrams and in seismic expoloration in the petroleum industry.
