I recently visited the Big Brutus stripping shovel in West Mineral and I believe "big" is the wrong adjective...more like humongus! At any rate, the reason I'm posting this is that they sell a terrific map of the Southeast Kansas coal fields(circa 1925?) showing all rail lines and active mines. There are a few photos including an old Frisco gondola being loaded. It's interesting to find out what a large presence the Frisco had in this area..
This map is too large to scan or I would pass it on. If anyone is interested, the web site is www.bigbrutus.org.
