    Howdy folks,

At long last, the Texas Western's Frisco 42' flat car KITS are in and ready for sale at http://shop.twmrc.org.

The custom 42' flat car KIT is from Red Caboose and Intermountain. It is painted yellow with black lettering and numbered for 95523, 95644, 95702, and 100008. The kit includes trucks and couplers.

The Frisco purchased 500 of these 42'10" flat cars numbered 95300-95799 and used them in general and company service from 1928 until the merger in 1980. It represents a car repainted from box car red to yellow in the 1950's.

You'll also find RTR cars and decks are available at the Texas Western's railroad shop.

    Have fun,
    mike

Are there any plains to release these models for N scale?

    Sorry Joe,

The Texas Western doesn't plan to release the Frisco flat in N scale. Perhaps Red Caboose will on their own if they have a 42' flat in N.

    Best,

  4. Two questions:

    (1) Were these cars used in revenue service while in the yellow paint, or only in company or MOW service?

    (2) It looks like the TWMRC also has a wooden deck for this car available at their online store (under the "accessories" tab). Is the plastic deck on the Red Caboose kit a separate piece that can easily be swapped out with the wooden deck? Or is the wood deck intended to be applied on top of an integrally-cast plastic deck?

Thanks for any info others can provide --

    (1) YES! They were used big time for revenue service for anything and everything that required a flatcar. Examples would include hauling farm implements and used a idler cars for long loads at each end of a mill gondola.

    (2) The wooden deck is intended to be applied to the top of the plasitc one as except for a small piece in the center, it is an integral part of the mold.
