Here's another bucolic scene along the Frisco. What an enticement to ride! [By the way, I hear the A&M RR is running an excursion from Springdale to Monett on Sept. 29, 2024.]
That is WELL south of Rogers. In fact, it's down south of Lancaster as I recall. Interesting to note that the tumbling water in the photo, what is now called Frog Bayou (or Frog Creek), was being called Clear Creek by the Frisco in this postcard. I always wondered when and how extensive the use of the name "Clear Creek" was back then and how and why it became Frog Bayou/Frog Creek. FWIW: The only way to see that scene is to either be on the train (sitting by a window on the west side of the engine or car), or hike in. I've run trains past that scene with the creek in various stages, from barely a trickle to raging from runoff. I never tired of running trains through those mountains.
Which end you riding? i.e. North of Springdale, or south? The Devil's Eyebrow area is north of Springdale (north of Rogers, actually) and the "Clear Creek" scene south of Lancaster on the south end. Have fun!
