Sorry You all, don't get on here as much as I'd like to. Kind of busy these days. Just a little bit about me. Hired out for Frisco in '73 as a brakeman, worked for the track dept. for Red Smith while being layed off, went back to work as a switchman/foreman/brakeman/conductor/hostler, and wound up being a yardmaster in Tulsa until retiring in '99 the old knees, ankles finally gave out. The ole Frisco days were GREAT. Thats before radios came along! Seems like everything went down hill from there. Nothing bad on you new guys and gals, but back then it took 4 people to build and run trains. can remember riding on the tops of cars passing signals. Hell bet not many people now know the old hand signals and lantern signals. Well got to sign off for now. Drop me a line and I'll get back with you as soon as possible.

Great stories of the "good ole' days" are always interesting. Keep them coming!

Danny, Great to hear from you "old Heads" always good to hear stories from the old days, whichever RR.
It drives me crazy when a guy is standing right beside me on the ground, and always seems to use that stinking radio when any number of hand signs would work better for me, and keep us out of trouble with "proper radio rules". I mean they are standing right next to me.
I treasured working with the guys that would not use a radio until they had to. Those folks taught us how to count cars and give hand signs for the RIP's, House, or Bowl, and "give us a Kick", or "shove to hold", or "hang 4".
    Yep, that was railroadin.
