Rode the Frisco several times while a college student and worked in northeast Ark in the late 1940s and early 1950s -- several times between Jonesboro, Ark., and Kansas City and once, I remember, between Jonesboro and Wichita. I worked at the Osceola Times for awhile and the Memphis-St. Louis tracks were about 20 ft. behind the newspaper office. Building shook as steam engines chuffed their way through town. Now live in Rogers, Ark., which calls itself a Frisco city -- named after the president who brought the RR to town. The old Frisco branch between Monett, Mo., and Van Buren, Ark., is now the Arkansas and Missouri RR.

I suspect you went through Thayer, MO then. I was born and raised there and my dad worked for the Frisco as did my brother.
