Richland, MO depot. Richland also had two depots. One from 1869 and another built in the 1950s. Richland is located in Pulaski County at mile post (MP) 158.8. It was named to honor Mr. G. W. Rich, a director of the old Atlantic and Pacific Railway. Before 1930, the site was called Garnsey, but there was nothing except the railroad. Garnsey was likely just the property owner of those vast forests. Perhaps he wished for rail service for timber cut? 5.2 miles to the west at MP 164 is Jesse Henry's, a member, private crossing. Jesse has his own crossing sign. It is very remote on a mountain top. Often for miles along there, from the rails the land drop off very quickly. It is so remote and steep few have seen that beautiful stretch of rails for about 10 miles. At an elevation of 1150 ' above mean seal lever, it ranks well with other high elevation locations. The most exported item in the 1950s? Goldfish, from Ozark Fisheries located just north of the city of Richland on Highway 7. Perhaps there, it should of had the name of Goldfish Junction? ha ha
