Andre Ming and all S scalers!

Alpine Models (www.alpinemodels.com) has released their first S scale structure. It carries #6401 George´s Feed & Grain. The sturcture also carries the name Farmers Supply Co. on the front of the building with the red and white "Checkerboard Square" colors and Purina Chows name.

It retails for $49.99 and is a combination mat board, wood and plastic kit. It is simular to the old HO scale kit that can be seen on John Allen´s famous Gorre & Daphetid layout.

It has helped me decide to forge ahead and construct a layout in S scale! Mabie Andre will talk to me again? My 18 foot long livingroom wall will support S scale much better than O. You CAN teach old dogs new tricks afterall! Thanks Andre!

Alpine Scale Models purchased the old HO scale line of Suydam cardstock structures years ago from Ed Suydam. The Purina Chows Feed Store has been around in HO for many years. I'm glad to see them reproduce it in S scale.

Indeed, the Purina feed store was just one of the old Suydam HO kits that Alpine continued to offer after they purchased the line. It is a wise choice for their first S scale venture since the Checkerboard Square stores were located nationwide. My grandparents bought chicken feed at one when I was growing up on their small farm in Farmers Branch, Texas, in the early 50s. It was located in Dallas on Denton Road. The Katy´s Dallas-Denton branch ran in front of the place.

Wonder how many stores were located next to Frisco tracks across the system?
