I was browsing through some of my Dad's old papers and came across some interesting newsletters. It seems he belonged to the Phelps County Historical Society and they put out a perodic newsletter. Unless one is a true historian, most of the content is of life in a small town. However, there were some articles about the Frisco which I found most interesting:
March 1987-the story of the procurement and placement of 1501
September 1990-the story of South West branch reaching Rolla and beyond.
December 1991-the Frisco in Phelps County with photos. The photos are what you would expect from a photocopier but it's about content...a shot of the General Wood circa 1942 and a shot of 1342 pushing an oil train up Rolla Hill also circa 1942.
May 1985-a history of the Rolla depot.
If anyone is interested just Goggle Phelps County Historical Society and hit list of articles. They will photocopy the articles for 15 cents a page plus first class postage.
