Hello all, I like railroad history and I came to this site looking for information. I rode my horse in Butler Hollow, FR 2285, east of Seligman, MO. on Saturday. I met some people that told me the road was the old RR line. They pointed out the ruins of what they said was a stone castle formerly owned by a RR. I am hoping to get more info on that.

    Welcome.

I don't know much about that area of Missouri, but I'm sure someone on here will.

The roadbed was part of the Missouri & North Arkansas, built in the late 18th century and not to be confused with the current M&NA running on a more or less parallel line to the north that was originally the White River Railroad and part of the Missouri Pacific. The line ran from Seligman to Helena, AR with trackage rights into Joplin, MO. Harrison was the headquarters and the museum there has lots of info plus a newsletter that has articles about the railroad. You can search (here and elsewhere under the M&NA name. The Eureka Springs tourist line was an original part of this of this operation. There is a good book about the M&NA by Dr. Fair. Some of the local libraries should have access to it.
Not sure what the castle is about.
