I'm from Tulsa Oklahoma and, while I'm employed as a Flight Test Engineer for FlightSafety International, I've always been interested in railroads and railroading since I was a kid in Southern Illinois (Illinois Central country) where my dad worked for Peabody Coal Company, which once had its own short line railroad to the docks on the Mississippi River, which later became part of the IC. While the "Mainline of Mid-America" will always be my favorite, I have since been very intersted in the various current and past rail lines serving the Oklahoma and NW Arkansas area too, including the BNSF (Frisco) and the old Midland Valley Railroad. I rode the old Frisco to Van Buren Ark some years back on the Arkansas Missouri runs from Springdale to Van Buren, pulled exclusively by venerable Alco Diesel power.

I had a fairly large American Flyer (S guage) layout as a kid and I tried my best to make it into a (Illinois Central) coal-hauling road. While I still have all the old AF hardware, someday I hope to return to model railroading, perhaps in HO scale. At the moment, I don't really have the time to do it. I spend about half the year 'on the road' and at the moment, I am writing this from a hotel room in Bossier City, Louisiana.

    Hello to everyone here. :)

    Howdy Richard,

Welcome to FRISCo_Org. There is lots of info here to help with your pursuits.

I have built a lot of kits in hotel rooms. These days, it is tougher because of knife, glue, and paint restrictions, but still possible.

Thanks for stopping by. We hope you have loads of fun.

    Best Regards,
    mike
